Since quietly igniting on Wellington’s metal underground in early 2024, six‑piece powerhouse LadyReign have gone from secret demo‑keepers to the capital’s most highly anticipated female-fronted metalcore outfit.
Their explosive debut at Underworld Tavern’s Primordial Soup on Nov 1, 2024—alongside All I Seek and Bad Schematics—was dubbed “a night of Metalcore antics … their fresh sound combines elements of modern metalcore, classic metalcore, and prog, with jazz/soul vocal stylings” - (Undertheradar.co.nz)
Their fusion of prog precision, chonky guitar riffs and jazz‑tinged vocals—shaped by influences like BTBAM, Northlane, Polyphia, and Enslaved—is now being laid down in the studio for their first full EP, an exciting development to be unveiled in 2026 (keep your ears peeled for that one). Supported by Wellington’s metalcore community LadyReign have vaulted onto bigger stages with a sold‑out support slot at Valhalla for Cian & Flowers of Hades on June 12, 2025—a defining feat confirming LadyReign as one of the most exciting projects in Wellington’s metalcore scene.
