Choreboy! is the solo project from multi-instrumentalist Mike Patrick. A student of
ethnomusicology and a lover of live performance, Mike has performed extensively with
bands such as IO and Lazy Suzan before settling into his own voice and style.
Years of procrastination, self-doubt and fear of failure have subsided and transformed into a
positive and exciting musical direction – one of collaboration, exploration and honesty. With
a diverse background of musical inspirations, as well as a plethora of instruments to tinker
away at, Choreboy! has become a creature of its own with a little something for everyone.
Sometimes playful, relaxed and intimate; other times experimental, brooding and energetic,
the music of Choreboy! goes where it best fits, taking cues from a wide range of genres and
styles with two distinguishing traits – emotive and playful lyrics covering a diverse range of
everyday life, and a strong focus on looping both in performance and writing.
With a handful of home-made, DIY recordings already under their belt and sold-out
performances at festivals and Wellington based venues, Choreboy! is hoping to become a
prominent feature of the Pōneke music scene.
